Overview

Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda’s most renowned and diverse protected areas, located in the southwestern part of the country. Covering approximately 1,978 square kilometers, it is famous for its stunning landscapes, including savannah plains, dense forests, lakes, and wetlands.

The park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, and numerous antelope species. It is particularly famous for its tree-climbing lions that can be seen lounging in the branches of acacia trees, especially in the Ishasha sector. Tour Plan

Day 1: Arrival & Ishasha Sector Game Drive

  • Morning: Depart from Kampala/Entebbe early (around 6-7 hours drive, approx. 410 km).
  • Afternoon: Arrive at Queen Elizabeth NP, check into your lodge (e.g., Ishasha Wilderness Camp).
  • Late Afternoon: Game drive in the Ishasha sector, famous for tree-climbing lions and wildlife like elephants, buffalo, and antelopes.
  • Evening: Return to lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

  • Early Morning: Breakfast, then morning game drive in Kasenyi or Mweya sector—look out for lions, elephants, leopards.
  • Midday: Return for lunch and rest.
  • Afternoon: Boat safari on Kazinga Channel—spothippos, crocodiles, buffalo, elephants, and abundant birdlife.
  • Evening: Relax at your lodge.

Day 3: Chimp Tracking & Departure

  • Morning: Breakfast, then optional chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge or Kalinzu Forest (requires prior booking).
  • Late Morning: Check out from lodge.
  • Afternoon: Drive back to Kampala/Entebbe, with possible stopovers at the Equator or craft markets.
