Overview

Murchison Falls National Park is one of Uganda’s most renowned wildlife reserves, located in the northwestern part of the country. Covering approximately 3,893 square kilometers, it is famous for the spectacular Murchison Falls, where the Nile River forces its way through a narrow gorge, creating a dramatic waterfall. 3-Day Murchison Falls National Park 

Day 1: Arrival & Game Drive in the Northern Sector

  • Morning: Depart early from Kampala (approx. 5-6 hours drive) or fly directly to Pakuba Airfield  for quicker access.
  • Afternoon: Check into your lodge (e.g., Paraa Safari Lodge, Bakers Lodge, Chobe Safaris Lodge or Red Chili Rest Camp).
  • Late Afternoon: Embark on your first game drive in the Northern Sector along the Nile River—look out for elephants, giraffes, lions, buffalo, crocodiles, and numerous antelope species.
  • Evening: Return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 2: Boat Safari & Murchison Falls

  • Early Morning: Breakfast, then head to the river for a boat safari upstream towards the base of Murchison Falls.
  • Mid-Morning: Enjoy close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and waterbirds along the Nile.
  • Late Morning: When you reach the base of the falls, disembark and hike to the top of Murchison Falls—the powerful waterfall where the Nile squeezes through a narrow gorge.
  • Afternoon: Optional visit to the Top of the Falls for panoramic views and photography.
  • Evening: Return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3: Game Drive & Departure

  • Early Morning: Optional early game drive in the Paraa or Rabongo Forest area for bird watching and wildlife sightings.
  • Late Morning: Check out from your lodge.
  • Afternoon: Begin the return journey to Kampala (via road or flight from Pakuba or Bugungu Airstrip).
  • Optional: Stop at Hoima or Kabalega Falls for sightseeing en route.
