Mgahinga National Park
Nestled in the southwestern corner of Uganda, Mgahinga National Park is a stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the Virunga Conservation Area. Covering approximately 37 square kilometers, it is renowned for its diverse ecosystems, volcanic landscapes, and rich wildlife.
Highlights:
- Gorilla Trekking:Â Home to the endangered mountain gorillas, Mgahinga offers incredible gorilla encounters, alongside golden monkeys and other primates.
- Volcano Climbing: The park features three active volcanoes—Mount Gahinga, Mount Muhabura, and Mount Sabyinyo—ideal for adventurous hikes and mountain climbing.
- Bird Watching:Â With over 180 bird species, including rare Albertine Rift endemics, bird enthusiasts will find plenty to admire.
